The Plateau people have a rich cultural heritage that deserves to be celebrated, preserved, and shared with future generations. The PSAUK Digital Heritage Project is a new initiative designed to do just that. It offers a space where stories, images, and creative works come together to keep the Plateau culture alive and thriving, both in the UK and across the diaspora.

What is the PSAUK Digital Heritage Project?
The PSAUK Digital Heritage Project is a flagship programme launched by the Plateau State Association UK. It aims to collect, digitise, and share the cultural heritage of the Plateau people through photography, film, art, storytelling, and archival materials. This project creates a digital space where community members can contribute their own stories and creative works, ensuring that the heritage of Plateau is preserved in a form that is accessible and engaging.
This initiative is more than just an archive. It is a living, breathing collection that reflects the diversity and creativity of the Plateau community. By using digital tools, the project connects people across distances, allowing the diaspora to stay linked to their roots and culture.
Why Digital Heritage Matters for Plateau People and the Diaspora
Cultural heritage is the foundation of identity. For the Plateau people, many of whom live far from their homeland, digital heritage offers a way to maintain that connection. It helps preserve languages, traditions, and histories that might otherwise be lost over time.
Digital heritage also empowers younger generations to explore and express their culture in new ways. It supports storytelling that honours the past while inspiring creativity for the future. This project ensures that the Plateau story is told by the community itself, in its own voice.
The 2026 Cultural Day Showcase
The PSAUK Digital Heritage Project will officially launch at the PSAUK Cultural Day on 15 August 2026 in Preston. This year’s theme, Heritage in Motion: Preserving Plateau, Powering Tomorrow, highlights the dynamic nature of culture and the importance of keeping it alive through innovation and community effort.
At the event, visitors will experience a showcase of digital stories, films, photographs, and artworks contributed by Plateau people and friends. This celebration will be a chance to see how heritage can move forward, powered by creativity and shared experiences.

Join the Project: Share Your Stories and Creativity
The PSAUK Digital Heritage Project invites photographers, filmmakers, artists, archivists, and storytellers to contribute. Whether you have old family photos, recorded stories, artworks, or films, your contributions will help build a rich, diverse collection that honours Plateau culture.
